BIO

Belin [1970] is a multidisciplinary artist and image-maker from Heerlen, the Netherlands. With a background in Illustration and Visual Design from Fontys University of Applied Sciences [1995], her practice moves between mixed media, analogue collage, typography and visual poetry.

After years working in branding, graphic design and concept development, she has increasingly returned to her autonomous artistic practice. Her work is sensory, layered and intuitive, exploring the spaces where vulnerability, desire, tenderness and human connection intersect. Through her work she constructs inner landscapes in which emotion, memory and embodied experience converge. Since 2022, Belin has developed a number of interconnected autonomous series that unfold as an ongoing artistic inquiry: Voyage d’amour.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Belin’s work emerges from a fascination with the inner world: the space where tension, desire, vulnerability and love meet, often before they can be articulated.

Working with analogue collage, mixed media and typography, she explores emotional memory, conditioning, self-love, and the human longing for connection and belonging.

Her works are built through layers, fragments and transparencies, creating images that hover between the intimate and the universal. What is hidden, remembered or felt beneath the surface becomes visible through accumulation, disruption and absence.

At the centre of her ongoing practice is Voyage d’amour, an evolving investigation into Unconditional [Self] Love.

Rather than approaching love as an ideal to be attained, Belin considers it an intrinsic state: something already present, yet often obscured by experience, expectation and learned patterns. The act of making becomes a space of slowing down and listening.
A movement away from control and towards surrender; from resistance towards softness from survival towards presence and acceptance. Through this process, fragments are not necessarily resolved, but allowed to coexist.

Belin’s work asks the viewer to pause. To look beyond the immediate image and enter a more inward, embodied space. A space where memory, sensation and emotion remain open-ended.

At its core, her practice is an invitation to return to what is already there: the body, the present moment and the quiet recognition that love is not a destination, but a state continually unfolding within us.
